Kellvin Chavez from Latino Review has apparently been working on this story for some time now and he seems confident in its legitimacy.
The first detail he reveals to us is that the title of the new franchise will be The Spectacular Spider-Man, a title that has been passed around a fair bit lately among fans.
He goes on to reveal that the 2017 movie is not going to be an origin story. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise since I’m pretty sure someone at Marvel (Feige I think) said that they’re not doing origin stories from here on out. Don’t quote me on that, just going off my terrible memory.
Now the big news from this report is that Chavez’s source has told him that a major element of the 2017 reboot will involve RDJ’s Iron Man fighting Spidey to determine whether or not he has what it takes to join the ranks of the Avengers.
The most prominent criticism of the phase 2 Marvel movies was the lack of characters crossing over into stories that make sense for them to appear in. It would seem like they are adjusting to please the fans.
So: Robert Downey Jr is basically the Hugh Jackman of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meaning; it seems like we’re going to get him in many movies to come. My question to that is; Will his presents in these movies (Civil War, Spectacular Spider-Man) affect his Marvel contract?
I’d assume that his contract has simply been updated to include a few more movies, that’d be the most logical scenario.
Hopefully this isn’t the big announcement RDJ teased to us on Twitter the other day because I want to still be surprised by what he has to offer, however the general consensus is that this is the big reveal.
Props to Shadow Rabbit for the title art
