Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige have made it very clear, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, that we won’t be seeing any sort of tease/gimmick at the end of the credits for the highly anticipated Avengers sequel.
Whedon tells EW;
“There is nothing at the very end. And that’s not a fake out. We want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a bitch! I’ll kill them!’”
That’s a really fair point, wanting to get ahead of the curb and all that. Hate to break it to you Joss (because you’re definitely reading this) but I’m pretty sure you’re going to get that anyway. I mean, the only way I can see them pushing this news is with the cast interviews on Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America that are coming up this month. So expect to hear this again there.
To everyone who’s freaking out right now, chill. Kevin Feige did confirm that we will see a mid-credits “epilogue-like” scene, just not something at the very end of the credits. Feige also debunked the rumours that Carol Danvers (A.K.A. Captain Marvel) will appear in the movie, however he does say that a ‘secret female’ character will appear saying;
“It’s not a big deal. But it’s a good character.”
Supposable this is a familiar character, so there are a couple of things I think it could be. First being the possibility of Skye from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. crossing over into the movies. That’d be pretty cool, however this is probably not going to be the case. The more likely option, in my opinion at least, is that it will be a character related to Black Window’s past. Possibly some kind of training officer in that unconventional boarding school she grew up in, like those few scenes we saw of a similar KGB training facility in Agent Carter. And of course; Linda Cardellini and Julie Delpy have been cast in yet unknown roles, potentially this one? Kudos to Marvel, two weeks out and they still have all that under wraps.
I appreciate this little announcement as a whole. If you don’t have something necessary to the progression of the MCU why have anything at all? You know.
