So the Joker has an iteration or two in the comics where he has tattoos, however from what I gather from the images I’ve seen, that version of the Joker is a little more logical and cunning whereas this Joker seems to be going for a more maniacal take.
The reason the Joker has tattoos in this new cinematic universe, in my humble opinion at least, is to support the fan theory going around that Batman has obliterated his teeth over the years. If you take a look at Jared Leto’s Joker without the tattoos but still with the fillings, it would just look off.
So that’s my take on it. If this is the case; I like the visual representation of just how brutal Batman is, but at the same time you shouldn’t design the look of such an iconic villain around an aspect that makes the hero more interesting.
That “Damaged” tattoo, super dumb though.
